How can lighting help aging eye problems?
Brighter, Whiter Lighting
Additional light is typically the answer to age-related vision problems, but instead of raising light levels all throughout your home, use task light to pump light levels where you need them for reading, grooming, hobbies, etc.
The kitchen is a great example of this need. It is one of the most important areas of your home to think about lighting, and that does not change as we age. Increasing task lighting in the kitchen helps when reading recipes and working around your counter.

Keep Light Levels Even
Combat age-related vision problems by providing uniform light within a room. Providing smooth lighting transitions between rooms can help eyes adjust to different light levels as you more from room to room. Using dimming controls is a great way to create a lighting solution that will work and be easy on your eyes whether is morning or evening.
Think about your Lifestyle
The rooms that you spend the most time in will be where you notice your lighting layout may not be working for you like it use to. If you have a favorite room for reading, increase the lighting and be aware of the color temperature in that room. Add more undercabinet lighting to your kitchen, and more task lighting in the bathroom to help with reading instructions and ingredients.
Smart controls for your home and lighting can help make life as you age easier. Purchase fixtures that are compatible with dimming controls.
